Motorcycle Ride for Dad - Fighting Prostate Cancer

North West Territories

Register today for the 2011 Ride - Sunday, June 5th

June 6, 2010 marked the first annual NWT Motorcycle Ride For Dad. A ride to promote awareness for the fight against Prostate Cancer. Over 100 riders from around the NWT gathered in Yellowknife and joined with 30 other locations in Canada to raise money and get the word out about the importance for men to talk to their Doctor about this all too common, but seldom discussed cancer.

The weekend started with pre-registration and silent auction on Saturday night, then on Sunday riders participated in a RCMP escorted parade through the streets of Yellowknife, and off on 40km poker run out on the Ingraham Trail, with stops at Yellowknife River, Prelude Lake and Prosperous Lake then back to the DND building for a BarBQ, prizes and recognition of sponsors and top fundraisers.

The ride was a huge success and we raised over $30000 in pledges that will support a prostate cancer advertising campaigns here in the NWT.

The organizing committee of the NWT Motorcycle Ride For Dad wishes to thank all the wonderful sponsors, volunteers and participants who have helped to make the 2010 Ride for Dad a huge success.

Without you, our generous and dedicated supporters, none of this would be possible.

But…the fight against this dreaded disease must go on! We hope you will join us again this year on Sunday, June 5, 2011 as we continue to raise funds and awareness to fight prostate cancer. Remember that early detection is the best defense so men over 40 need to talk to their doctors about getting it checked!
