Cheque Presentation 2009
The Grand River Motorcycle Ride for Dad donates $147,769.00

The local organizing committee of the Grand River Motorcycle Ride for Dad was proud to make their cheque presentation on Wednesday, December 16, 2009.
Celebrity Ride Captain Dave MacDonald (CTV News), Chief Matt Torigian, Waterloo Regional Police Service and Ray Massicotte, Waterloo Regional Police Association President, led 1024 motorcycle enthusiasts through the area on Saturday, June 6, 2009 to raise funds and awareness for the fight against prostate cancer. It was a fun filled family event with participants from all walks of life riding all types of motorcycles. They gathered pledges for the Cause, and then participated in a police-escorted parade through Kitchener and Waterloo, followed by a scenic ride in the local countryside.
To date the local fundraising efforts of the Ride for Dad total $492,697.00 in six years. The Grand River Hospital Foundation will accept research proposals for the research portion of the funds to be designated for prostate cancer research projects supporting our community. The balance will be spent on public education and awareness in the Grand River Region.
